PyCon 2008

…kicks off today. The presentations are happening in four ballrooms, joined into one massive one for the keynotes.

Two Japanese guys in front of me both have a MacBook Air with Japanese OS X… one guy’s reading a Japanese blog feed. The coolest feature so far—apart from a surfeit of coffee stations which is always a good thing—is the ubiquitous power distribution in the ballrooms. EVERY seat has power, even though most seats don’t have a table to rest the computer on. Most people, nay everyone, has a laptop. MacBook’s probably have 60% (I’ll revise this number as I gather observational data) of the total.

Lot’s of wireless. many 802.11 flavours (a, b and g all available) Never used A before but it works well.
